1/3 down payment to start. Balance on completion. Down payment covers artist’s time for initial meetings, photographs and sketches and is non-refundable. Quoted prices held for one year with down payment.
Procedure
When possible, I like to meet with the subject and client and discuss options as to what the client wants. Topics of discussion may include; setting of portrait (indoor or out), clothing worn by subject (formal or informal), pose, size of portrait, and schedule. A 1/3 down payment is necessary at this time to proceed. A date for the photographs is set.(Photos can be taken the same day as meeting if desired) The photo session usually takes ½ hour to 1 hour. I generally do 3-4 sketches and get back with the client to review. Sketches can be reviewed via email. Client input is encouraged. After agreeing on a pose and face for the portrait, I begin work on the oil portrait as soon as my schedule allows. When the face is finished, the client will have the opportunity to see it for approval. In some cases, this may be done via email. Upon delivery of the finished portrait, if approved by the client, final payment is due.
